This large sized Tavern Pipe, made from clay by the Williamsburg Pottery, Lightfoot Va. is typical of those used extensively during colonial times. An experienced archaeologist needs only fragments - and countless thousands have been unearthed in the restoration of Williamsburg. They date pipes by shape and size. This Tavern Pipe is a mid eighteenth century model. It is 17 inches long, and would make a great gift for the vintage pipe collector.
